Practices will be held for dancers participating in Culture Shock. Practices will be Thursday, Sept 21st from 8:30-10pm, Wednesday, Sept 27th from 8:30-10pm and Thursday, Sept 28th from 8:30-10pm. Please bring your zills and new silk veils. Please also wear whatever top and jewelry you plan to wear for this event. Practicing in your costume prevents costume malfunctions. Only you can prevent costume malfunctions!

Remember ladies that the silk veil dying party is this Sunday, September 10th! Bring a yummy disgustingly fattening dish, money for the veil, salt, a camp chair and clothes you don’t mind getting stained. Please be arrive at 1pm sharpish as this dying process is going to be a production with about 19 of us running around! How much fun is this…I can’t wait!!!

Ah, still busy busy busy! So many upcoming events…Friday, August 25th is the Home Sweet Home Birth private party. We dance at 7pm. Then this Saturday, August 26th is “FishStock” fundraiser at the Rogue Brewery in South Beach. “FishStock” is from 5-9pm but we will be performing a 15-20 minute set around 7pm. Intermediates please arrive at 6:30pm! Veil dying party is Sunday, September 10th. Time and location to be discussed in class. Don’t miss this opportunity to save $$$ on creating your very own silk veil rather than buying them! “Culture Shock” will be Saturday, September 30th. We are slated for a 4pm performance with a 30-45min dance set. I have a supah secret surprise dance that I’ll be doing that will leave Newport talking for months about us! Whew, thats enough upcoming events for now. Remember Level 2’s to bring your money this week for zills. Intermediates, remember we have practice after our class this week for our upcoming shows this weekend. Oh and for our dancer who is back east for work…we miss you!

Beginner Level 1 starts Tuesday, August 8th 7-8pm
Beginner Level 2 starts Wednesday, August 9th 7:30-8:30pm
Intermediate starts Thursday, August 10th 7-8:30pm

Woh! Between work, visiting family back East and my friend’s wedding in California…its been way to busy. August doesn’t look like its going to slow at all. New class session starts the second week of August…sign up soon! Zills are in for this session and next session students. We might be having a silk veil dying party in August so stay tuned for that! There will be 3 possibly 4 performances in the month of August. August will be a busy month! The Newport Performing Arts Center’s “Culture Shock” show is rapidly approaching and my Intermediates have a veil choreography master! I have no fear though, they can do it! Hello my bellydancers! Remember I am away on vacation right now so classes have been postponed until I return. Classes resume on the following dates:

I’m back from da sea and ready to start this next class session!!! Beginner Level 1 will be on Tuesdays from 7-8pm, Beginner Level 2 will be on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30pm and Intermediate will be on Thursdays from 7-8pm. Can you believe it…a henna artist in Newport?!?! Well, the woman is a wonder! I stopped in last week to get a sample done and had a blast. I’m working with her to hopefully host a henna workshop just before the Loyalty Days Parade so students can have their hands or feet done. Her work is great, prices are very reasonable, she has tons of designs to pick from and even has guilding mediums and gems that she can apply! Stop in today and treat yourself! Baraka Body Art is located inside “The Hot Spot” at 434 SW Coast Hwy in Newport (541)961-1698. Fridays and Saturdays 11am-5pm.
