Thats right everyone….Sabine of Eugene will be coming to Newport for a sword balancing workshop titled “Liquid Isolations and the Essence of Sword Dance”!
“Distilled sword dance technique for all levels: instruction in extending hip, arm, and belly isolations and making them look ever-so-smooth-and-gooey while using sword balancing points. Learn sword hold techniques and dramatic presentation, work those all important arms, and block a slow and sensual sword dance.”
Workshop is for beginners to advanced dancers. Workshop will be held on Saturday, February 24th at Newport Parks and Rec in Newport, Oregon from 1-3:30pm. Workshop cost is $30 in advance or $35 at the door. Space is limited so register with me soon! Email me at anon@bellydancewithanon.com if you would like to register.
What to bring? Bring your sword (some loaners available; first come first served), a head wrap or scarf and a yoga mat or towel.
DO NOT BRING “BATTLE READY”* SWORDS!!! YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO TAKE THE WORKSHOP IF YOU DO!!!

Astryd Farah deMichele of Eugene will be conducting an Egyptian style bellydance workshop this Saturday (Jan 20th) from 1-4pm at Dance and All That Jazz located in Newport, Oregon.
“A mixture of classic movements done with a modern flair as well as movements reflecting a fresh style that gushes “Cairo“. Astryd presents technique work from her most recent studies in Egypt, as well as many layers utilizing the most famous & fun foundation movements. Detailed notes and music available.”
This workshop is most appropriate for those who have had some bellydance training or any other dance training. $35 in advance or $40 at the door. Dance and All That Jazz is located at 630 SW Hubert St or call 541-265-6168.

Happy New Year everyone!!! A new year can mean a fresh start! Start a new hobby or exercise regime through bellydance! Chase away those dull gray winter blues with bellydance! Raise your spirits with bellydance! A new class session begins next week.
- Beginner Level 1 starts Tuesday, January 9th from 7-8pm
- Beginner Level 2 starts Wednesday, January 10th from 7-8pm
- Intermediate Level starts Thursday, January 11th from 7-8:30pm

The holiday season has begun and I know everyone’s schedules are hectic but I want you to stay fresh with your bellydance selves that I’ve decided to offer a sort of mini session during this time. Level 1B: Beyond Basics is geared towards practicing what you’ve learned in Beginner Level 1 while incorporating a few new moves. Beginner Level 2’s are welcome to take this as well to keep yourself fresh and practiced. Classes are drop-in only ($8) and will be from 7-8pm on the following dates:

- December 19th

Since the last class of the session falls on Turkey Day I’ve decided to have the make up class on Tuesday, November 28th from 8-9pm. For Intermediates who have paid for the session, there is no fee. For those who do drop-in, the standard drop-in fee is required.

All students are invited to share their evening with each other in dance. Bring a pillow, a dish or non alcoholic beverage to share and your dancing spirit! Henna will be available by our incredible artist Baraka Body Art for a fee and vendors will be there as well. Don’t miss this fun event. Students can bring family, friends and loved ones and get them into the shimmy spirit! Hafla will be held at the South Beach Community Center at 3024 Ferry Slip Road on Saturday, November 18th from 6-9pm.

The Middle Eastern Dance Guild of Eugene will be holding its annual Fall Festival this Saturday, October 14th at the Cosmic Pizza in Eugene. There will be dancing at the Cosmic Pizza from 12-6pm and bellydance workshops at the Staver Dance Studio from 9-5:30pm. For more details please visit www.medge.org. My intermediates and myself will be dancing at 12:40pm and at 3:10pm. Should be tons of fun!!!!
