Smashing last minute addition! I, and possibly some of my dancers, will be performing at this political fundraiser for a more progressive Newport City Council candidate. Advanced tickets are $25. This event will be held from 7-10pm at the Yaquina Bay Yacht Club at 750SE Bay Blvd in Newport. So, get dressed up and get involved in your local politics!!

Our dance time for Culture Shock has changed!!! We will now be dancing at 1pm at the Performing Arts Center (PAC). Dancers please arrive at 12:15pm. We have at 30-45 minute time allotment and we’ll be using the whole time! This is an all ages, open to the public, free event so bring your family members and friends!!!

Practices will be held for dancers participating in Culture Shock. Practices will be Thursday, Sept 21^st from 8:30-10pm, Wednesday, Sept 27^th from 8:30-10pm and Thursday, Sept 28^th from 8:30-10pm. Please bring your zills and new silk veils. Please also wear whatever top and jewelry you plan to wear for this event. Practicing in your costume prevents costume malfunctions. Only you can prevent costume malfunctions!

Remember ladies that the silk veil dying party is this Sunday, September 10th! Bring a yummy disgustingly fattening dish, money for the veil, salt, a camp chair and clothes you don’t mind getting stained. Please be arrive at 1pm sharpish as this dying process is going to be a production with about 19 of us running around! How much fun is this…I can’t wait!!!

Yay new classes!!! I’m so excited!!!

Beginner Level 1 starts Tuesday, August 8th 7-8pm

Beginner Level 2 starts Wednesday, August 9th 7:30-8:30pm

Intermediate starts Thursday, August 10th 7-8:30pm

Woh! Between work, visiting family back East and my friend’s wedding in California…its been way to busy. August doesn’t look like its going to slow at all. New class session starts the second week of August…sign up soon! Zills are in for this session and next session students. We might be having a silk veil dying party in August so stay tuned for that! There will be 3 possibly 4 performances in the month of August. August will be a busy month! The Newport Performing Arts Center’s “Culture Shock” show is rapidly approaching and my Intermediates have a veil choreography master! I have no fear though, they can do it! I just got confirmation that we’ll be dancing in the La De Da Parade in Yachats on Tuesday, July 4th. Line up is at 11am and the parade starts shortly thereafter. Even more spectacular is that we might be dancing at the Green Salmon after the parade with some local fire dancers. Plans are in the works so STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES!!! I love fire dancers!!!

I’m back from da sea and ready to start this next class session!!! Beginner Level 1 will be on Tuesdays from 7-8pm, Beginner Level 2 will be on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30pm and Intermediate will be on Thursdays from 7-8pm. Ahhhh, coastal Oregon and rain are like salt and pepper…always together. The brave students decided to participate in the parade despite the drizzle. Of the 16 that had signed up, 11 brave souls showed up in full bellydance gear ready to show Newport that bellydance is back! Stay tuned for pictures of this soggy fun event!
