Our dance time for Culture Shock has changed!!! We will now be dancing at 1pm at the Performing Arts Center (PAC). Dancers please arrive at 12:15pm. We have at 30-45 minute time allotment and we’ll be using the whole time! This is an all ages, open to the public, free event so bring your family members and friends!!!

Practices will be held for dancers participating in Culture Shock. Practices will be Thursday, Sept 21st from 8:30-10pm, Wednesday, Sept 27th from 8:30-10pm and Thursday, Sept 28th from 8:30-10pm. Please bring your zills and new silk veils. Please also wear whatever top and jewelry you plan to wear for this event. Practicing in your costume prevents costume malfunctions. Only you can prevent costume malfunctions!

Remember ladies that the silk veil dying party is this Sunday, September 10th! Bring a yummy disgustingly fattening dish, money for the veil, salt, a camp chair and clothes you don’t mind getting stained. Please be arrive at 1pm sharpish as this dying process is going to be a production with about 19 of us running around! How much fun is this…I can’t wait!!!

Ah, still busy busy busy! So many upcoming events…Friday, August 25th is the Home Sweet Home Birth private party. We dance at 7pm. Then this Saturday, August 26th is “FishStock” fundraiser at the Rogue Brewery in South Beach. “FishStock” is from 5-9pm but we will be performing a 15-20 minute set around 7pm. Intermediates please arrive at 6:30pm! Veil dying party is Sunday, September 10th. Time and location to be discussed in class. Don’t miss this opportunity to save $$$ on creating your very own silk veil rather than buying them! “Culture Shock” will be Saturday, September 30th. We are slated for a 4pm performance with a 30-45min dance set. I have a supah secret surprise dance that I’ll be doing that will leave Newport talking for months about us! Whew, thats enough upcoming events for now. Remember Level 2’s to bring your money this week for zills. Intermediates, remember we have practice after our class this week for our upcoming shows this weekend. Oh and for our dancer who is back east for work…we miss you!

Woh! Between work, visiting family back East and my friend’s wedding in California…its been way to busy. August doesn’t look like its going to slow at all. New class session starts the second week of August…sign up soon! Zills are in for this session and next session students. We might be having a silk veil dying party in August so stay tuned for that! There will be 3 possibly 4 performances in the month of August. August will be a busy month! The Newport Performing Arts Center’s “Culture Shock” show is rapidly approaching and my Intermediates have a veil choreography master! I have no fear though, they can do it! I just got confirmation that we’ll be dancing in the La De Da Parade in Yachats on Tuesday, July 4th. Line up is at 11am and the parade starts shortly thereafter. Even more spectacular is that we might be dancing at the Green Salmon after the parade with some local fire dancers. Plans are in the works so STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES!!! I love fire dancers!!!

Hello my bellydancers! Remember I am away on vacation right now so classes have been postponed until I return. Classes resume on the following dates:
Beginner Level 1: Tuesday, June 27th 7-8pm
Beginner Level 2: Wednesday, June 28th 7:30-8:30pm
Intermediate: Thursday, June 22nd 7-8pm

Excellent news…I found out Friday that we were accepted to do the Loyalty Days Parade in Newport on May 6th! Come out and see myself and my students “shake” things up at this year’s parade. Parade is 12-2pm and it travels down Hwy 101 from the north end of town near Safeway south for two miles. I love parades!!!

I will be dancing this Sunday, April 30th at about 1:35pm at the Cosmic Pizza in Eugene. The Girl Scouts are organizing a “carnival” event to benefit the survivors of Katrina and have chosen the Mercy Corps as the organization that will accept the money raised. Variety of performances including Sabine, Razia, Tribalation and Sister Celebration from Eugene as well as a bluegrass band, juggler, girl’s choir, skits, flute duet and a rock band. Organizing a big event like this takes some finesse! My dance time slot for Saqra’s Annual Showcase has changed to approximately 6:40pm on Saturday. This is actually good because now I can attend the workshop I paid for AND have time to change…thank you Saqra!
