Beginner Level 1
Middle Eastern dance, more popularly known as bellydance, is an often misunderstood ancient art form that is sweeping the nation. In this class, we will establish a foundation of dance movements that will be used to develop fun dance combinations. You will learn several basic movements, including: shimmies, hip circles and drops, rib circles, lifts and drops, arm and hand movements, figure eights, camels/undulations, etc. Proper body posture, basic conditioning and strengthening are emphasized. Everyone is welcome, no matter what size, shape, age or dance experience. Let bellydance build and strengthen your mind, body and spirit today!Â
Beginner Level 2
The Beginner Level 2 class will focus and develop three main areas: new movements, variations of Level 1 movements and transitions between dance movements or combinations. Additionally, zills (finger cymbals) and some veil movements will be introduced. Proper body posture, basic conditioning and strengthening are again emphasized.  Everyone is welcome, no matter what size, shape, age or dance experience. Let bellydance build and strengthen your mind, body and spirit today!Â
Intermediate
The Intermediate Level with focus on practicing all previous dance movements, learning some new dance movements as well as learning choreographies created for public performances. Zills will become a regular feature in class. Different Middle Eastern rhythms will be introduced and practiced. Intermediate classes are on an ongoing basis and dancing publicly is not required.Â
***What do I wear for class: comfortable exercise clothing (yoga pants and tee shirt) and bare feet, socks, ballet slippers or Hermes sandals. Harem pants, hip scarf, crop top/belly shirt or other bellydance practice costume pieces are absolutely welcome!  Â
